Is Raw Fish Icky? Ichthyovenator doesn’t think so!

Ichthyovenator is a spinosaurid that lived in the Early Cretaceous in Laos (not a place where one finds a lot of famous dinosaurs), which is kinda surprising. This is the first Southeast Asian dinosaur that we’ve covered on this blog, and the only dinosaur found in Laos.

Ichthyovenator means ‘fish hunter’ and it was certainly adapted like other spinosaurids to eat fish. Its teeth, like other spinosaurids’ were round and conical and its snout was long, crocodile-like. Something that sets it apart from other spinosaurids is that its large sail was shaped in a wave pattern, while other spinosaurids had either a round sail or no sail. Ichthyovenator was small, but a little larger than its Brazilian relative Irritator. Most of it is unknown, which is why this article is coming to an end right now.
